- My name is Katie. On May 21, 2009 my world forever was changed upon the death of my husband James. He died while in treatment for Leukemia he contracted from his deployment with the US Army to Iraq in 2003/2004. I am also the proud single mom to Z, stepmom to two grown sons J&A, and grandma to K.
